CAD Lab is catering to the needs of the advanced facilities in "what-if" analysis for Electrical Engineer. This lab consists of software MATLAB and PSPICE. The versatile nature of MATLAB allows "what-if" analysis that can be used to strengthen students understanding of electrical & electronics. MATLAB is useful in analyzing data obtained from laboratory experiments. In addition, it has been found that the interactive nature of MATLAB and its immediate graphing facilities are especially useful in enhancing the understanding of concepts and principles of Electrical engineering fundamentals. SPICE is one of the most successful circuit simulation programs. Its widespread usage attests to the applicability of the program to large variety of circuit simulation problems. SPICE utilizes modified nodal analysis approach. It can be used for non-linear dc, non-linear transient and linear ac analysis problems. It can also be used to perform noise analysis, temperature analysis, and Monte-Carlo analysis. One of the advantages of SPICE is its inclusion of device models for active devices such as diode, BJT, JFET, and MOSFET.
Electrical Engineering lab caters to the needs of first year students of all batches. This lab houses all the experiments such as different network theorems verification, speed control of different machines, load test on different machines & transformer, which illustrate the basic theory related to Electrical Engineering and gives in depth practical knowledge of the electrical machines & equipment’s. We have also some experimental set ups beyond the syllabus such as testing of transformer and V-Curve on synchronous motor.
As per new university norms, there are experiments based on simulation. Simulation based experiments are MATLAB Software based. The Lab is equipped with computers having MATLAB software to perform simulation based experiments. Hardware based three are six experiments namely: IDMT Panel, Differential Relay (Percentage), Cable Fault Locator, Negative Sequence Reactance, Zero Sequence Reactance, Sub Transient Direct Reactance Sub Transient Quadrature Reactance.
The drives lab caters to the needs of M.Tech students. The Lab has AC and DC drives based experiments. A few experiments are : five-phase induction motor drive, closed loop PMSG - DC motor set up, matrix converter, PMSM drive, BLDC drive etc. The Lab is equipped with TMS320F2812 DSP from Taxes Instruments for motor control applications. This lab is very essential part of electrical engineering as it contains facilities which are used by the B.Tech and M.Tech students in carrying out the various hardware projects.
Power Electronics Lab is utilized by 1. B. Tech VI Semester EN students for Power Electronics Lab EEE-651. 2. M. Mechanical Engineering is one of the core branches of engineering which have existed since prehistoric times. It has been part and parcel of the history of development of mankind. To this date it is unimaginable to think about development without Mechanical Engineering. The Mechanical Engineering Program at PIT started in 2002 and produce graduates who have the required knowledge and technical skills to remain productive in the field of Mechanical Engineering. The student will be groomed to develop professionalism, ethics, safety and socioeconomic concerns in resolving technical problems; and to become capable of functioning in diverse local and global environments in industry or academia.
The program is designed in such a way that the graduating students will be in a position to use the knowledge of mathematics, basic sciences and engineering to analyze problems in mechanical engineering, design and conduct experiments and interpret results, design mechanical devices, systems or processes.
In today’s fast-changing world with ever-growing challenges of limited resources and rapid climate changes, a new generation of Mechanical Engineers nurtured with necessary skills and innovative spirit is needed. Our attempt is to provide our students with a cheerful, productive and satisfying experience at all levels of their Programme of studies so that they can explore the amazing world of Mechanical Engineering. Our dedicated faculty tries to disseminate amongst the students the latest developments in Applied Mechanics & Design, Dynamics & Control, Thermo-fluids & Processes, Energy, Materials & Manufacturing, and Automation & Robotics.
Students are given thorough knowledge of machine tools and operations, like plane turning, step turning, taper turning and threading on lathe machine. Drilling machine is used to assist operations being carried out in other shops. Apart from being utilized for curriculum requirements, the Machine Shop also serves miscellaneous machining requirements of other laboratories, e.g. Material Science and Testing Laboratories, Engineering Mechanics Laboratory etc. The Machine Shop, as a matter of fact, also turns out to be most liked shop amongst the students.
In this laboratory students learn the workings of various Internal Combustion Engines like two Stroke one Cylinder Scooter Engine; four Stroke one Cylinder Scooter Engine; four stroke four cylinder Diesel Actual Engine. In addition, students get an idea about working operation, construction details of gasoline and diesel engine systems like fuel supply system, lubrication system, cooling system, ignition system
Fluid Mechanics laboratory offers equipment’s for experimenting with and analyzing water and air flow behavior. Here we analyze all those concepts that we study in theory classes.
